Here’s this lump of clay,
okay? It’s brown and it’s ugly looking. Whatever you do don’t try and smell it.
The first step is to put a little water on it and kneed it until it’s a perfect
pliable, slimy ball. Keep in mind that you’re going to make it spectacular and everything
you wanted it to be.
Now that that’s done, place
it on the spinning canvas. This is the hardest, messiest and the best part.
While it’s spinning in the chaos you mold it to how you want it to look. You
may need the water works. You may get frustrated; but the window of time is
very short and you can’t take that for granted. Besides, there are plenty of
other people that will fill your spot if you get up. You’ll make mistakes but
the chaos will help you figure out what direction you want to go with it. It
even allows for you to smooth out mistakes by hand.
Once that’s done you can take
a break and allow it time to dry. Someone will most likely fire it for you or
it will just dry on its own. My favorite part is the decoration. It was once
brown but now your piece is this really light gray color, just like primer.
Color it how you want. Don’t use that blue just because someone else used it.
Use that hot pink and lime green that you think is stellar. It’s your life
after all.
So many people don't get week 11 or get it but can't execute--but you do just right on both counts. The last line throws all that precedes into a different light and nails the reader right where and when they need to be nailed.
